Human Resources Director
One of the Northwest's most respected and historic media organizations, is seeking a strategic and people-focused Human Resources Director to help lead their organization through the next era of mission-driven journalism and media innovation. This executive leadership role will oversee all human resources operations, including employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, compensation, organizational development, and labor relations within a dynamic newsroom and publishing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership
- Lead employee relations, investigations, and workforce planning
- Oversee HR compliance with Federal and Washington State labor laws
- Support labor relations and collective bargaining activities
- Drive recruitment, retention, onboarding, and leadership development initiatives
- Maintain HR policies, systems, and organizational best practices
- Help strengthen organizational culture, accountability, and mission alignment
- Partner with newsroom and operational leaders to support sustainable growth and transformation
Skills required include human resources, rippling, HRIS, employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, compensation, organizational development, labor relations, media, publishing, non-profit, and union.
Additional skills and qualifications:
- Experience with in media, publishing, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred
- Experience in unionized environments preferred
Expert level required. This is a permanent position based out of Spokane, WA. The pay range for this position is $95,000.00 - $/yr. This is a fully onsite position in Spokane, WA. The Final date to receive applications is anticipated to close on Aug 7, 2026.
