Overview

URM Stores, Inc. is seeking a driven and detail-oriented System Administrator to join our expanding IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing enterprise-level server administration and operational support across a diverse technology environment.

The System Administrator will troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize core systems and platforms that support business-critical operations, including—but not limited to—
VMware, Nutanix, Windows Server, Citrix, Vocollect, Exchange/Exchange Online, Ivanti
, and related technologies. This position plays a key role in ensuring system reliability, performance, security, and scalability as URM continues to grow.

This position requires 100% on-site presence; no remote work will be allowed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive the rapid and effective resolution of infrastructure incidents by collaborating closely with URM IT team members and third-party vendors.
  • Monitor, manage, and troubleshoot performance issues across physical IBM iSeries servers.
  • Maintain day-to-day operations of enterprise servers, IBM iSeries systems, and network components to ensure high availability and reliable service for end users. Leverage a variety of monitoring tools, including system console messages, event logs, automated alerts, and data center environmental notifications.
  • Patch, upgrade, and maintain server operating systems and related firmware to ensure compliance with established IT standards, security requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Provide enterprise-level server support and troubleshoot operating system and platform issues across technologies including, but not limited to,
    VMware, Nutanix, Windows Server, Citrix, Vocollect, Exchange/Exchange Online, Ivanti
    , and related systems.
  • Support Active Directory architecture, configuration changes, and file/share permissions as business needs evolve.
  • Partner with application owners and IT peers to plan and execute major system upgrades and new platform deployments.
  • Provision, configure, and document virtual machines in alignment with OS vendor best practices and business requirements.
  • Contribute to capacity planning initiatives in collaboration with the URM IT team to support current and future growth.
  • Respond to service requests while supporting incident resolution and change management processes.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development to stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure continuous system support.
  • Provide cross-team support by assisting with additional technical issues as needed.
Education and/or Experience
  • CompTIA A+ certification required.
  • CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications preferred; candidates without these credentials must successfully obtain the required certification(s) within one year of hire.
  • Associate degree in a technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with non-technical users in both in-person and phone-based interactions.
  • Three or more years of experience supporting user-facing, enterprise-level applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard desktop productivity software and tools.
  • Solid understanding of computer hardware architecture and system components.
  • Proven troubleshooting abilities with strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Online (Microsoft 365) environments.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Power Shell scripting for administrative and automation tasks.
  • Foundational network troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose and resolve basic connectivity issues.
