Director of Operations

Role

Director of Operations. Serves as a visionary leader, mentor, facilitator, and educator across strategic warehouse organization, production management, capacity planning, inventory control, and overall operational performance. Works closely with the Branch Director of Sales to meet customer needs, control costs, and ensure branch profitability.

• Foster a safety-first culture, promoting machine operator, material handling, and forklift/pedestrian safety.
• Develop and refine Operations Experts’ processes and capabilities.
• Lead team growth and development.
• Provide training, development opportunities, and encourage positive cross‑department communication.
• Offer ongoing employee feedback and address performance issues promptly.
• Manage CDL drivers—scheduling, performance, and DOT compliance.
• Build strategic capabilities and core competencies relevant to the organization.
• Champion a customer‑focused environment delivering best service.
• Optimize raw material utilization through warehousing, inventory control, cycle counting, and physical inventory coordination.
• Oversee all operations: production and capacity planning (people and resources), shop and warehouse layout, receiving accuracy, and inbound/outbound load scheduling.
• Ensure product and production quality via proper manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with leadership on product innovation and advanced production capabilities.
• Acquire deep product, industry, and customer service knowledge to develop business strategies and operational efficiencies.
• Create standard operating procedures that emphasize efficiency and continuous improvement.
• Develop training materials and programs for shop and warehouse personnel.
• Negotiate service agreements with partners to service customers and maintain facilities and equipment.

• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• At least 5 years of upper‑management experience with profit and loss responsibility.
• Preferred experience with DOT rules and regulations.
• Strong coaching and mentoring ability, fostering growth.
• Advanced technical skills for strategic solution development, execution, and innovation.
• Passion for driving change and achieving results through operational excellence.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of door and millwork products; strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Understanding of ERP systems and process discipline.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills.
• Drive to build a successful team environment.

• Must maintain stationary position for extended periods.
• Capable of operating in office and warehouse environments.
• Ability to use computer and other office equipment.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Occasional lifting and moving of heavy objects (doors, equipment).
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and reach comfortably.

• Competitive salary: $105,000–$135,000.
