Position: Furnace Deck Operator 1

Furnace Deck Operator I

Join Collins Aerospace Carbon Operations in Spokane, WA, where you will be responsible for the core production processes in manufacturing carbon‑carbon composite brake components and other key industry technology.

Location: 11135 W Westbow Ln, Westbow, Spokane, WA 999

Security Clearance: None/Not Required

Rotating Shift Structure
  • 4-on/4-off rotation equates to 6 months off every year
  • Rotating day/night shift every 6 weeks
  • 12‑hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Compensation
  • Built‑in, guaranteed overtime
  • “Free” hours on non‑overtime weeks
  • Total annual compensation starting at $50,000 per year
  • Salary breakdown:
    • Hourly Rate: $20.50/hr
    • Shift Differential (always active): $2.75/hr

What You Will Do
  • Engage in a team‑oriented environment and collaborate with functional groups such as engineering on technical matters
  • Uphold process integrity and ensure quality standards throughout all furnace operations
  • Adhere to Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulations and proactively address safety hazards
  • Follow standard operating procedures to uphold safety protocols and ensure product quality
  • Utilize basic to intermediate computer skills for data entry and process monitoring
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodation; items over 25 lbs. require lift assistance)
  • Work 4 days on/4 days off – 12‑hour shifts, rotating day to night every 6 weeks
What You Will Learn
  • Knowledge of all pertinent customer and company specifications, including international standards related to carbon‑carbon brake components and company policies
  • Operation of support equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, vacuums, scissor lifts, and power tools
  • Conducting furnace readings, rounds, and overseeing process flow to maintain optimal operation
  • Performing equipment preventative maintenance and promptly reporting mechanical or safety concerns to supervisors
  • Understanding Collins and customer specifications, finished products, and relevant policies
  • Basic operations of the furnace process
  • Recognition of issues with process equipment tolerance limits
Qualifications You Must Have
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience using hand tools

  • Manufacturing or similar industry experience
  • Experience with inventory control
  • Ability to prioritize tasks under constantly changing conditions requiring ingenuity and judgment
