Tooling Mechanic

The Tooling Mechanic is responsible for supporting the manufacturing process by maintaining and operating machinery or equipment while upholding customer standards, quality requirements and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment as directed by management.
- Perform routine machine maintenance such as lubricating, oiling, cleaning, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.
- Dismantle machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs using various hand tools as directed by management.
- Reassemble equipment after completion of the inspection, testing, or repairs.
- Record production, repair, and machinery maintenance information.
- Set up and operate manual machine tools such as lathes, drill press, grinder, hand tools, etc. to cut, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and measuring instruments including micrometers, height gauges, measuring tapes, etc.
- Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of molds based on customer specifications.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts to conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and other products.
- Assemble molds and fixtures.
- Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
- Ensure work assignments are carried out to the highest quality ensuring customer quality and company needs are met.
- Communicate in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner with all employees, customers, and others.
- Contribute to a successful workgroup and foster a team‑oriented culture through positive interactions, active listening, meaningful collaborations, high employee engagement, and constructive exchange of ideas designed to meet or exceed the organization’s strategic goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience operating machinery (mills, lathes, routers).
- Working knowledge of machinery and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality controls, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate effectively in the English language.
- Ability to handle complaints and resolve issues using decision‑making and analytical abilities.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and ability to professionally complete tasks.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
- Highly developed sense of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Professional appearance.
- Position in a warehouse environment and requires the use of various types of equipment (computer, power tools, hand tools, heavy machinery, etc.).
- Requires light to heavy lifting.
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
- May require climbing in tight spaces.
