Job Overview
At Collins Aerospace Carbon Operations in Spokane, WA, we specialize in producing carbon brakes. We are hiring a motivated, entry‑level Furnace Deck Operator I to support core production processes, operating high temperature furnaces, cranes, forklifts, and related equipment.
Responsibilities- Operate industrial high‑temperature furnaces for carbon vapor deposition.
- Load/unload furnaces, perform preventative maintenance, and monitor operations.
- Maneuver high‑capacity cranes, use forklifts, and operate support equipment.
- Troubleshoot automated robots and perform complex physical tasks to meet quality and delivery timelines.
- Adhere to Environmental Health and Safety regulations and address safety hazards.
- Follow standard operating procedures for safety and product quality.
- Utilize basic to intermediate computer skills for data entry and process monitoring.
- Lifting up to 25 lbs with or without accommodation; heavier loads require lift assistance.
- Work a rotating 4‑on/4‑off schedule of 12‑hour shifts with day/night shifts every 6 weeks.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with hand tools.
- Manufacturing or similar industry experience preferred.
- Experience with inventory control.
- Ability to prioritize tasks under changing conditions with ingenuity and judgment.
- Industry specifications and company policies, including international standards for carbon‑carbon brake components.
- Operation of support equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, vacuums, scissor lifts, and power tools.
- Conducting furnace readings, rounds, and overseeing process flow for optimal operation.
- Performing equipment preventative maintenance and reporting mechanical or safety concerns.
- Knowledge of Collins and customer specifications and finished products.
- Basic furnace process operations and tolerance limits.
- Starting annual compensation of $50,000, hourly rate $20.50, shift differential $2.75.
