Job Description

This position at Sytech will be responsible for the manual removal of machining burrs from turret punched sheets using industry standard deburr and grind techniques. It is also responsible to grain parts per customers finishing requirements. This requires the individual to hand sand, grind, file, deburr, buff and smooth surface metal parts using hand tools or powered equipment requiring care to maintain contour, edges and dimensions.

We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual who is willing to be a valued member of our team. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Log into job via data collection system before starting job.

• Load, unload, and adjust work pieces onto equipment or worktables, using hand tools.

• Remove parts from sheet and deburr as needed using hand files and pneumatic deburring tools

• Grain finish parts using Timesaver machine

• Grind/Sand material using orbital grinder/sander

• Cleaning and washing parts

• Performed first run check and have it signed off by Lead or QC.

• Inspects completed and in-process pieces to verify conformance of finish to the customer and company standards

• Continue to self-inspect part thought-out run to ensure quality.

• After completing job record part counts and log out of job via data collect system.

• Move job to next operation.

• Follow ISO related quality policies, procedures, and documentation requirements

• Follow departmental safety requirements including proper use of PPE as required Comprehends and practices department, job and machine safety: lifting techniques, hand tool safety.

• Understand and follow SOP and Department Rules

• Proper use of basic hand tools, power tools, Timesaver machine, grinding wheel, belt sander.

• Performs various metal surface preparation such as:
Breakout, deburr, denub, grain, polish, minor grinding, etc.

• Able to identify non-conformance

• Understand Job Traveler, routing, and split orders

• Count and stage finished work pieces

• Able to electronically scrap and add comments to job

• Perform other duties as needed

Physical Demands

• Must be able to maintain a quick and steady pace working efficiently throughout the shift. Typical work shift is from 8 to 10 hours.

• Good manual dexterity is required for operating equipment and moving work pieces.

• Rotation of head/neck, bending and twisting at the waist, walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, use of high and low impact vibratory tools, flexion/extension, contact with metals, lubricants, solvents, exposure to noise, and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand/arm and ears.

• Requires repetitive motion along with lifting and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

• Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

• Adaptable to a changing work environment.

• Frequently lift to/from floor-up to 50 lbs.

Environmental Exposure

• Contact with metals, lubricants, solvents, and exposure to noise

• Confined spaces, high noise levels, moving objects such as forklifts and carts.

• Fast paced work environment/need for completing jobs on time.

• Exposure to washing and cleaning of parts.

• Exposure to hot temperature when working near ovens or in areas of the building that cannot be temperature controlled (especially during summer months).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• An aptitude for mechanics, eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are key for this.

• Experience working in a machine shop, or shop classes preferred

• Good with hand tools

• Ability to learn and interpret prints and process instructions and work safely

• Must have good English skills (verbal and written), excellent attention to detail

• Basic math skills and able to keep accurate count of parts processed.

• Organized with excellent communication skills.

• Effective decision maker with a can-do attitude.
