Job PurposeReporting to the VP of Operations, the Industrial Paint Manager will oversee all coating operations, ensuring high-quality surface preparation and finishing in compliance with specifications, blueprints, and industry standards. This role requires leadership in supervising team members, maintaining schedules, and supporting CIP 1 compliance in industrial coatings.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the paint team, ensuring all work meets quality standards and contractual requirements
- Verify and manage materials for traceability and CIP compliance
- Oversee surface preparation, masking, priming, and painting processes
- Conduct in-process inspections and coordinate with 3rd party NACE inspectors
- Maintain paint department inventory and ensure proper storage of materials
- Keep detailed records of work performed, including coating times and conditions
- Train and mentor team members to promote safe work practices and continuous improvement
- Operate overhead bridge cranes and forklifts safely when required
- Complete daily assignments and support other duties as assigned
- Minimum 5+ years of industrial painting experience, including supervisory experience
- CIP 1 certification required
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong understanding of coating systems, surface preparation, and inspection standards
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical documents
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Demonstrated reliability and strong attendance record; ability to consistently report to work on time and complete scheduled shifts
- Must use appropriate personal protective equipment, including full-face respirators when required
Must be able to stand up for extended periods of time. Will have to spend time using your hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and will use WEMCO's overhead cranes to lift any equipment that weighs more than 50 pounds. Must be able to perform duties while wearing appropriate PPE: safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, paint suit, breathing apparatus, etc.
May be asked to bend over or squat for an extended period of time. Must be able to detect differences between colors. Must possess the ability to see details both at close range and at a distance.
