Machine Shop Operator I – Collins Aerospace, Spokane, WA
Collins Aerospace in Spokane, WA is hiring an entry‑level Machine Shop Operator I in an on‑site machine shop located at 11135 W Westbow Ln, Spokane. The position is reserved for U.S. Persons and does not require or provide immigration sponsorship or a security clearance.
Compensation & OvertimeBase pay starts at $20.50 per hour ($50,000 per year). Benefits include a $2.25 shift differential and 208 hours of built‑in overtime per year. Skill‑based tiered advancement opportunities are available.
Responsibilities- Work as part of a team‑oriented atmosphere and interact with other functional groups (e.g., engineering) on technical matters.
- Set up and run CNC machines (training provided).
- Follow a weekly preventive maintenance process.
- Adhere to work instructions (WI, SOP, reference documents).
- Use precision gauging tools (including CMM), and verify gauge calibration with micrometers, calipers, drills, inserts, etc.
- Identify and document out‑of‑spec conditions.
- Complete daily machine inspections and calibration verification.
- Follow the First Piece Inspection procedure, using the appropriate tools and inserts.
- Adhere to all safety policies (Collins Aerospace Cardinal Rules).
- Participate in 5S/continuous improvement processes (ACE).
- Observe and follow all environmental, health, and safety procedures.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all engineering instructions, standard operating procedures, and departmental procedures.
- Prioritize tasks under constantly changing conditions where ingenuity and judgment are required.
- Work 4 days on / 4 days off – 12‑hour shifts, rotating day to night every 6 weeks.
- Knowledge of all pertinent customer and company specifications, including international standards related to the production of carbon‑carbon brake components and company policies.
- Complete all assigned training within the allotted time.
- Set up CNC machines and run parts.
- Operate a forklift and pallet jack.
- Operate manual and automated riveters.
- Use scales, calipers, and micrometers.
- Operate bar‑code scanning equipment.
- Use various tools (mixes, hotplates, etc.).
- Operate the automated oxidation coating station.
- Operate oxidation bake‑out ovens.
- Operate power and pneumatic equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).
- Manufacturing or related industry experience.
- Experience with G&M codes, macro programming, and editing processes.
