Finishing Operator

Position Overview

We are hiring a Finishing Technician I at Collins Aerospace Carbon Operations in Spokane, WA. In this entry‑level role, you will learn and be responsible for the set‑up, calibration, and operation of automated chemical application equipment used to apply protective chemicals to carbon aircraft brakes. You’ll also complete manual chemical application processes and leverage automated riveting equipment to fasten hardware to the brake components.

On‑the‑job training is provided as you learn and advance through a well‑defined progression roadmap.

• Set up, calibrate, and operate automated chemical application equipment.
• Perform manual chemical application processes.
• Operate automated riveting equipment to fasten hardware to brake components.
• Manage automated coating processes using Fanuc robots.
• Operate and maintain ovens for chemical curing.
• Load and unload material (≤ 25lb) and perform visual, mechanical, and weight inspections.
• Conduct quality checks to verify that final assembled parts meet specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all engineering instructions, SOPs, environmental, health and safety procedures, and company policies.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities.
• Use basic to intermediate computer skills for data entry and process monitoring.

• Training in forklift and pallet jack operation.
• Training in manual and automated riveters.
• Training in use of scales, calipers, micrometers, and bar‑code scanners.
• Training in operating the automated oxidation coating station and oxidation bake‑out ovens.
• Training in power and pneumatic equipment, and automated material handling equipment.
• Learning customer and company specifications, international standards, and company policies.

• High‑school diploma or GED required.
• U.S. person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or asylee).
• Manufacturing or related industry experience preferred.
• Ability to recognize problems with process equipment and report when tolerance limits are approached.
• Ability to read drawings and follow manufacturing procedures.
• Ability to prioritize tasks under constantly changing conditions.
