The Production Floor Area Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily production operations within the custom products division at Wilbert Precast. This hands-on leadership role supports production employees, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, and maintains quality and production standards throughout the manufacturing process. This position serves as the primary lead on the production floor for the customs area, assisting with scheduling, workflow coordination, training, troubleshooting, and communication between production staff and management.
This position is expected to lead by example, promote teamwork and accountability, and help drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
- Coordinate and oversee daily production activities within the customs area.
- Assign tasks and prioritize workflow to meet production schedules and deadlines.
- Monitor production quality and ensure products meet company and customer specifications.
- Assist with setup, forming, pouring, stripping, finishing, and other precast production activities as needed.
- Identify and communicate production delays, material shortages, or operational concerns.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and efficiency throughout the production area.
- Lead and support production employees through daily direction, training, and coaching.
- Promote a positive team environment focused on accountability, safety, and productivity.
- Assist in training new employees on production procedures, equipment use, and safety practices.
- Serve as a point of contact for production questions and problem-solving on the floor.
- Work closely with supervisors and management to improve workflow and operational efficiency.
- Always enforce company safety policies and procedures.
- Promote safe work practices and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and applicable safety regulations.
- Leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing, production, construction, precast concrete, or related industrial environment. Prior leadership or lead experience required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read production drawings, specifications, and work instructions preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Forklift, rigging, or crane experience preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.
- Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery used in precast production.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely navigate production areas and work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Range expectation is $25-$29 per hour based on experience
