Operations Supervisor (Manufacturing & Production) About the Company
Our client is a premier, stable national manufacturer and distributor specializing in high-performance structural building materials and architectural metal systems. Operating a national network of regional facilities, this organization blends heavy industrial manufacturing with localized distribution hubs.
About the RoleWe are seeking an autonomous, impact-driven Operations Supervisor to take complete ownership of the Spokane plant floor, machine utilization, and back-office logistics. This role represents the highest level of local operational leadership at the Spokane facility, reporting directly to the regional General Manager. This is not a desk job—we are looking for a visible, floor-first supervisor who steps onto a plant layout and immediately identifies how to apply 5S and Lean workflows to make the operation safer, faster, and more efficient.
Responsibilities- Own the Production Floor: Directly lead, mentor, and coach an on-site crew of 10 to 20 hourly warehouse operators and machinery specialists, managing daily shift schedules, overtime allocations, and floor culture.
- Drive Manufacturing Throughput: Monitor daily roll-forming, metal fabrication, and material processing lines to maintain optimal machine uptime and meet tight delivery schedules.
- Master Floor Metrics & Inventory: Maintain material traceability and inventory tracking accuracy using a modern, cloud-based ERP framework alongside electronic barcoding and digital scanning workflows.
- Oversee Assets & Machinery: Manage preventive maintenance routines and safe operational parameters for raw material processing equipment, roll-forming tools, and industrial forklifts.
- Process Optimization (5S/Lean): Implement and sustain structured organizational practices (5S/6S) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reduce scrap, eliminate bottlenecks, and streamline order fulfillment workflows.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure full team adherence to local, state, and federal safety regulations (OSHA), driving a proactive, incident-free work environment.
- Frontline Leadership: 3 to 5+ years of supervisory or shift lead experience directly on an industrial manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy production floor.
- Technical Equipment Proficiency:
High mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a heavy machinery environment. Direct experience operating or maintaining material handling equipment (sit-down/stand-up forklifts) and production machinery. - ERP & Digital Scanning Discipline:
High proficiency with modern ERP inventory tracking tools and hands-on experience utilizing electronic barcoding and handheld scanning devices. - Hands-On Leadership Style: A leader who leads from the front—fully willing to jump on a forklift, operate machinery, or assist with material staging when the team faces tight delivery deadlines.
- Proven Track Record of Impact:
Ability to demonstrate past success in implementing 5S or structured process changes to upgrade underperforming crews or unorganized facility layouts. - Career Stability: A steady employment record showcasing professional growth, reliability, and long-term commitment.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Proficiency in manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory management.
- Commitment to safety and compliance standards.
- Experience in implementing Lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to analyze and improve operational workflows.
Compensation: $31.25 – $36.06 / hour (Estimated $65,000 – $75,000 base annualized, dependent on experience) + Overtime Eligible.
