The CNC and Manual Machinist is a full-time, on-site role located in Seattle, WA. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC and manual machines to produce high-precision components for material handling systems and related equipment. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling and materials, performing accurate measurements, and maintaining tight tolerances on machined parts.
The machinist will inspect finished work using measuring instruments, perform routine machine maintenance, and document work according to shop and quality procedures. Collaboration with engineers, fabricators, and other shop team members is expected to ensure parts meet specifications, deadlines, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC milling and turning machines, as well as manual lathes and mills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions, including GD&T.
- Strong skills in precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Experience working with a variety of metals and materials commonly used in industrial and aerospace applications.
- Understanding of shop safety practices, machine maintenance, and safe material handling procedures.
- Capability to troubleshoot machining issues, optimize setups, and adjust programs or tooling as needed.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate with engineering and fabrication staff.
- High attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and ability to meet production schedules and deadlines.
- Prior experience in an industrial or aerospace machining environment is preferred.
- Relevant technical training, apprenticeship, or vocational education in machining or manufacturing technology is beneficial.
