Community Impact and Communications Intern

This job will close on Friday, July 10th at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. The Community Impact and Communications Intern will be an integral part of the dynamic, innovative, and creative Community Impact and Communications team, contributing to Numerica's mission of giving back to the community, storytelling, and supporting financial wellness. This role will involve activating sponsor ships, partnerships, and events that enhance Numerica's impact across Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.

The intern will help bring to life key community initiatives such as Numerica's financial education program, Pride Festival, Hoopfest, EWU football, Gonzaga basketball, nonprofit fundraisers, and more. The intern will also have the opportunity to support communications, social media, and PR strategies.

This hands-on position will provide valuable experience in sponsorship strategy, event management, and execution. The intern will participate in project meetings, gaining insights into the planning and execution processes of sponsor ships and events. This role will directly support our financial education program by teaching in a classroom and/or nonprofit setting. They will also collaborate with various team members, the credit union, and the broader community to ensure the successful implementation of Numerica's philanthropic goals both internally and externally.

Essential duties and responsibilities include: assisting with coordinating and supporting community events and sponsor ships, helping with volunteer coordination efforts, participating in Numerica's social media strategies, contributing to the creation and execution of PR campaigns, providing support to the Community Impact and Communications team, aiding the Financial Education & Engagement program, ensuring all tasks are completed within set performance standards and deadlines, maintaining knowledge and adherence to all BSA regulations and compliance standards, and effectively incorporating concepts of CARES Principles in daily behaviors and interactions.

The ideal candidate for the Community Impact and Communications internship will be outgoing, community-minded, and comfortable engaging with the general public. Preferred skills include the abilities to stay organized, to produce quality work, meet assigned deadlines, and contribute in a team setting. The selected intern should be able to commit to a flexible schedule, as the role will consistently require attendance at evening and weekend events.

All travel expenses related to Numerica, including transportation, lodging, and meals, will be covered in addition to the hourly wage.

Education and/or experience:
The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in a college program in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Hospitality Management, or related field. Applicants from other programs will be considered if relevant experience is applicable. Preferred qualifications include currently pursuing a degree in WA or  where Numerica Credit Union is chartered. Certificates, licenses, registrations:
Valid driver's license.

Skills and abilities:

This role requires a high level of trust and diplomacy, as well as a strong sense of courtesy and tact. The intern will engage in extensive personal contact, often dealing with sensitive or personal matters. As a brand ambassador for Numerica, the intern is expected to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Additionally, they will be required to wear appropriate Numerica-branded apparel at events, which will be provided by the company.

Basic understanding of marketing principles, public relations, and community relations. Strong organizational and event-planning skills. Experience using social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Ability to lift and set up a 50-pound pop-up tent. Ability to drive company truck to and from events. Proficiency in software programs, including Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint. Comfortable using standard office equipment, such as computers, photocopiers, telephones, and printers.

Familiarity with personal finance and wellness, and experience with group presentations is a plus.
