About This Role

We are seeking a talented and creative team member to join SEIU 775 Leaders in Action Homecare Field Team. The field organizer’s role is to develop the leadership and strength of our homecare membership within their assigned turf. The organizer identifies, recruits, and develops members into participation, activism, and leadership within their Union. Organizers work alongside other organizers within the department and other staff within the organization.

The field organizers are responsible for executing turf events, building the strength of our membership with our New Employee Orientation Program, and engage members in our solidarity campaigns

Essential Functions
  • Implement and occasionally develop member and/or staff trainings focusing on a variety of issues including political campaigns, Race and Social justice campaigns, Union solidarity, and leadership development.
  • Recruit and mobilize members to various events and campaigns including, but not limited to, legislative sessions, elections, leadership conferences, actions, member meetings, and other field programs.
  • Support the Union’s statewide member new employee orientations program with a primary focus on overseeing training and development of member recruiters and maintaining a high coverage of orientations and prompt submission of data.
  • Train and develop both existing and new members along their leadership journey through intentional skills building and coaching.
  • Assist in the development of team goals and campaign materials, bringing creative and innovative ideas to best serve our membership.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively within the field team and other relevant departments to achieve goals of member leadership development.
  • Manage multiple projects or priorities and ensure that each campaign has member involvement and leadership development.
  • Utilize our data and internal systems to measure and track overall success of member participation, activism, and leadership.
  • Regular travel within assigned turf and at times across WA and/or other states.
  • May be required to do political work for candidates and member political education as part of job duties.

Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn the organization’s technology tools.
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands and manage multiple campaigns and projects with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team with individuals from a wide variety of skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Commitment to SEIU 775 Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and translate in Spanish (full fluency).
  • Ability to work with people from other cultures and backgrounds and demonstrate a commitment to Race and Social Justice.
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and travel within assigned turf and at times across WA and/or other states.
  • A valid driver’s license, car, automobile insurance, and cellphone
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in another language, particularly in Russian.
  • Experience working with a labor union, progressive non-profit, community organization, advocacy group, political campaign or elected official is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with Salesforce, Microsoft office and teams is a plus.
Typical Working Conditions
  • Field-based role with frequent travel to member homes, community locations, and worksites within assigned turf.
  • Regular in-person engagement with union members, leaders, organizers, and community partners.
  • Work performed in a mix of office, field, and community environments, including union halls, meeting spaces, and event venues.
  • Fast-paced, campaign-oriented environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and strong organizational skills.
  • Schedule includes frequent evenings and weekends to support trainings, member meetings, orientations, and statewide events.
  • Frequent communication through phone, text, email, and virtual platforms to coordinate member outreach and field activity.
