Good Business Network of Washington is a nonprofit coalition of local businesses, community organizations, municipalities, and residents working to build a resilient and vibrant local economy. Our Good Food Economy program connects the regional food community to strengthen the local food pipeline, advance values and viability across the supply chain, and help create access to good food for all. Initiatives span the local food system and include robust food security programming.
Nourishing Community is an online community to facilitate coordination and collaboration among food security organizations and businesses;
Good Food Exchange is an online marketplace for farm surplus, seconds, and rescued good food; and Eat Local First is a collaboration that publishes the largest statewide directory of farms and food businesses and organizations sourcing locally. The Washington Free Food Finder is our newest project, created to simplify the search for food assistance to those who need it, by providing a single source of free food resources across the state through a user-friendly map and directory.
Our work is focused on building a community of purpose-driven organizations, connecting them to resources, opportunities, and each other.
The Good Food Network VISTA will strengthen the food security network by developing sustainable partnership systems, database tools, and outreach resources that staff and partners can use to improve access to food assistance information. The member will support the Washington Free Food Finder by creating database update procedures, data‑quality tools, data‑sharing templates, and sustainable resources for staff and partners to maintain accurate information.
The member will create and pilot outreach templates, communication tools, and guides to increase awareness of our available resources, Nourishing Community, Good Food Exchange, and Eat Local First, that staff can use to improve participation and partnerships. These capacity‑building tools will help strengthen a more connected and resilient local food system beyond the VISTA term.
