Key Responsibilities- Care Implementation:
Carry out prescribed restorative/rehabilitative care plans from PT/OT/Nurses. - Mobility Training:
Assist with active/passive range of motion (ROM), strengthening exercises, functional ambulation, and proper turning/positioning. - Self-Care Training:
Help residents with dressing, grooming, eating, swallowing, and using assistive devices. - Bowel/Bladder Programs:
Manage continence programs and bladder retraining. - Documentation:
Chart progress, responses, and report changes to the nursing team and therapists. - Staff Training:
Educate CNAs on restorative techniques and care plan implementation. - Coordination:
Work with therapists, nurses, and other departments (e.g., Recreation) to integrate care. - Monitoring:
Oversee the use of splints, orthotics, and other devices.
- Current RN or LPN license (for supervisory roles).
- Specialized training in restorative care (often includes CNA certification with specialty).
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and promote resident rights.
- Understanding of rehabilitation principles, fall prevention, and cognitive/physical needs.
- Increase resident independence and self-esteem.
- Prevent secondary complications (e.g., contractures, pressure sores).
- Minimize social isolation and depression.
- Help residents maintain or regain functional abilities within their limitations.
