** ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS A FLOOR RN*
* ** include the following:
*** Administer and monitor patient basic care utilizing the nursing process within the RN scope of practice.
* Medication administration/safety/monitoring.
* Carry out physicians’ orders as assigned.
* Demonstrate positive leadership and goal-oriented productivity within scope of practice.
* Carry out care plan objectives and goals.
* Assist in delivery of client education.
* Maintain standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
* Comply with all state WAC pertaining to a residential treatment facility 246-337.
* Facilitate therapeutic communication with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
* Complete thorough and timely incident reports as needed.
* Respond to a patient’s needs and concerns and escalate through supervisory chain as indicated.
* Complete thorough, accurate and complete reporting and documentation of patient’s symptoms, and progress.
* Effectively utilize customer service and motivational interviewing skills to promote appropriate patient centered care.
* Demonstrates flexibility in responding to change and in working with diverse groups and individuals.
* Other duties as assigned.
* 1-2 years' experience in Psychiatric setting.
* Previous inpatient experience.
* Previous experience as a charge nurse/unit lead
* Ability to communicate with individuals of various backgrounds, education levels and socio-economic status.
* Ability to foster a positive on-shift work culture and ensure processes, policies, and procedures are followed during the shift.
* Ability to respond to escalated situations, appropriately identify issues that need to be escalated to inpatient leadership and/or community resources.
* Ability to apply trauma-informed concepts and practices related to patient care.
* Must have basic computer skills including ability to document in an electronic medical record, use electronic time tracking, use of Outlook, Word, and HRIS.
