Location: Spokane Valley
Overview
Walla Walla Veterans Home is hiring an on-call Registered Nurse 2 to deliver skilled, compassionate care to residents. This is an on-call position scheduled on a rotational basis and not eligible for telework. On-call staff must be available for at least four full shifts per month.
Duties- Direct and supervise the care provided by nursing personnel in the assigned area.
- Coordinate assignment of staff to residents and provide direction and information via accurate communication of current resident status and care needs.
- Plan, oversee, and evaluate work.
- Perform on-the-job training to newly hired staff.
- Assist the physician with physical examinations, techniques, and procedures.
- Examine residents to determine their need for medical care.
- Complete medication administration and treatment completion as ordered by the prescribing healthcare professional.
- Oversee the administration of medications.
- Coordinate communication and unit activities between the physician, social worker, psychologists, RN3s, and NACs concerning nursing care and agency policies.

- Current Washington state registered nurse license or unencumbered registered nurse multistate licensure.
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Proficient in English (read, write, speak).

- One year of professional nursing experience.
- Long-term care experience.
- Experience in nursing and restorative care methods, infection control, and resident rights.
- Experience in assessing and contributing to care plans, discharge planning as appropriate.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must pass DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two years.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening.
- Maintain a valid RN license.
- Must wear protective equipment as required; lift up to 60 lbs; reach 36 inches; be able to move and perform duties throughout the day.
- Must obtain and maintain CPR/BLS certification.
- Must sign confidentiality statement and maintain regular attendance.
- Must complete mandated training and orientation.
- Travel positions require a valid unrestricted driver's license and vehicle insurance if using a private vehicle.
- Candidates must have work authorization not requiring employer sponsorship.
On-Call is intermittent work with shifts scheduled on a rotational basis. The position is not eligible for telework.
