Spokane Veterans Home – Nursing Assistant Certified (Full Time‑Permanent, Swing)

The Spokane Veterans Home, part of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking a certified Nursing Assistant to provide quality, compassionate care to our veterans. This full‑time, permanent position is scheduled Saturday through Wednesday, 2:00‑10:30 PM.

Eligible for an additional $1.00 per hour Supplemental Basic Shift Premium for 24/7 Facilities (expires June 29, 2027).

• Assist residents with positioning, transferring, and ambulation while ensuring a safe environment and infection control.
• Respond to call lights, internal and external emergencies, and facility codes.
• Record vital signs, observations, and other resident data; document intake/output.
• Assist residents with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Support therapies and treatments under licensed personnel direction, including motion exercises.
• Perform basic nursing procedures such as applying anti‑embolism stockings, creams or lotions, and collecting specimens.
• Provide a positive, supportive living environment and follow written and verbal directions.

• Current and valid Washington State Nursing Assistant Certified license.
• Active status on OBRA (Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) check.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• High School diploma or GED.
• At least six months of direct patient care or customer service in a health‑care setting.
• Data entry and confidentiality skills.

• Experience with ADLs, infection control, and resident rights.
• Ability to perform tasks independently and as part of a team.

• Pass state background checks every two years per WDVA policy.
• Complete annual tuberculin screening and occupational health requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and use proper body mechanics.
• Maintain attendance, complete all mandatory training, and comply with DVA policies and CBA agreements.
• Valid driver's license if travel required (not applicable to this location).
• Work authorization without employer sponsorship.
