American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a NICU position at a Level II Trauma teaching hospital, requiring prior travel experience and Epic proficiency.
Requirements- Active WA state RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first‑time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency with neonatal procedures including UAC/UVC management, arterial line management, central line blood draws and care, IV therapy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience with neonatal respiratory support including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, high‑frequency ventilation, oscillators, nitric oxide (iNO), ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP), and chest tube management
- Experience with neonatal medications including IV vasopressors, anti‑seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, steroids, surfactants, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience managing conditions such as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, therapeutic hypothermia, hyperbilirubinemia, NEC, meconium aspiration, neonatal sepsis, and respiratory distress syndrome
- Experience with GI care including NG/NJ tube placement and management, gavage feedings, and post‑abdominal surgery care
- Cardiovascular skills including dysrhythmia interpretation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and telemetry
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or per‑diem), including location and dates
- Short‑term acute care teaching hospital with 629 staffed beds, designated as a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
- NICU setting with experience in NICU Level III and Level IV environments
- Patient population includes neonates across all gestational age ranges (under 24 weeks through full term)
- Expected patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 depending on acuity
- Night shift schedule: 3x12‑hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekends required on a variable basis
- Floating between sister facilities within the state is expected; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
- No on‑call required
- Charting system:
Epic (experience required) - 48‑hour shift availability
- Responsibilities include developmental care, patient and family teaching, thermoregulation, phlebotomy, phototherapy, and isolation/PPE precautions
- Scrubs: any color accepted for RNs
- No parking fees at this facility
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 designated holidays:
Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day - All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post‑offer RTO may not be approved
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a lower bill rate
- Candidates who have previously worked at a Providence facility in any capacity must disclose this history for consideration
