American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level 3 Trauma Center in Spokane, WA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and WA or compact RN licensure.
Details- 12-hour night shifts (1900–0730), with a Sunday–Saturday schedule cycle
- 36 hours per week
- 388-bed hospital with a 12-bed L&D unit, 3 ORs, and 2 OB ER rooms
- Patient population includes high-risk and low-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum patients, as well as stabilization of normal newborns and couplet care
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 for high-risk patients and 1:2 standard
- Required skills include IUPC, FSE, IV starts, and circulating C-sections
- EMR:
Epic (experience required) - Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE/Centricity and Philips EFM/tele fetal monitoring systems
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating to Postpartum and NICU (for Level 2 newborns) may be required
- On-call only applies if called off due to low census on a scheduled shift
- Active WA state or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, and EFM; surgical scrub role also requires CST
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
- Proficiency in IUPC, FSE, IV starts, and circulating C-sections required
- Epic EMR experience required
- One professional reference from a supervisor or above (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, etc.) required for consideration, with a second reference required prior to start
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation typically consists of 2–3 shifts, based on individual competency and comfort
- Unit support includes a 24/7 receptionist/HUC, 24/7 charge nurse (who also serves as resource nurse), hospitalist coverage, and RT available with NICU; no CNAs on unit
- RNs are responsible for phlebotomy as needed; IV/VAT team available if needed
- Centralized EFM, telemetry EFM, and cardiac telemetry monitoring available on the unit
- One holiday may be required
- Dark blue scrubs are required and are provided by the hospital
- Free parking is available in designated areas
- Manager interviews are conducted for this position
