American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother Baby / Post Partum position requiring at least 1 year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience and a WA or Compact RN license, working 12-hour night shifts.
Details- Mother Baby Unit within a hospital setting, operating as a closed pod to the birth center
- 23-bed unit serving postpartum and low-risk antepartum patients
- Patient ratio of 1:3–4 (antepartum or couplets)
- 12-hour night shifts, with shift times of 1900–0730 and 0700–1930
- Weekend rotation required, every other or every third weekend
- No on-call requirement — voluntary only
- Floating may be required to L&D (antepartum or recoveries) and NICU (NAS and feeder growers); voluntary floating to Med/Surg is also available
- EMR:

Pyxis - 6-week scheduling cycle released 2 weeks in advance or sooner; holiday schedule released 12 weeks in advance
- Active WA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required; EFM certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum nursing experience required
- Minimum 2 years of total RN experience required
- Proficiency in newborn care including vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia management, bilirubin monitoring, and care of NAS babies
- Breastfeeding assistance skills required
- Ability to independently manage 3–4 couplets, perform thorough maternal and newborn assessments, fundal checks, discharge teaching, and neonate vaccination
- Newborn lab and phlebotomy skills, IV skills (adult), and PKU testing experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- A clinical interview is required for consideration
- Two supervisor-level references required prior to start (one reference acceptable at time of submission)
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation consists of 3 preceptor shifts: 1 day shift and 2 night shifts (NEO format)
- Unit support includes a charge nurse (with reduced patient ratio), receptionist/HUC coverage 7 days/week with evening coverage until 0100 four days/week, lactation nurses daily from 0730–1600, phlebotomy services, CNAs, RT 24/7, and in-house hospitalist/OB and anesthesia 24/7
- Holiday requirement is at least one winter holiday and one summer holiday — no blackout dates
- RTO of up to 7 days allowed
- Any color scrubs are acceptable on the Mother Baby Unit; hospital scrubs are required when floating to NICU
- Free parking is available in designated areas
