American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring high-risk L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a short-term acute care, Level II Trauma and Level II Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
- 13-week assignment with some weekend shifts required
- 48-hour work weeks approved
- Floating required between units and potentially between sister facilities
- No on-call responsibilities
- Patient ratios of 1:2 for Labor patients and 1:3 for Antepartum patients
- Cares for high-risk Labor and Delivery, Antepartum, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiples, and VBAC/TOLAC patients
- Manages active labor including induction, augmentation, and maternal emergencies
- Facility performs 200-300+ births per month
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, and NRP
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with 1:2 patient ratios required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC) and IV infusion pumps
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience, including adult and neonatal arrest
- Proficient in high-risk delivery support, C-section circulation/scrub, and vaginal delivery assistance
- Experience with forceps/vacuum extraction and hemorrhage/shock management
- Skilled in fetal monitoring including internal/external EFM, IUPC placement, and abnormal fetal heart rate recognition
- Experience administering high-risk medications including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, and Terbutaline
- Able to independently function in L&D with prior specialty experience
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages
- Manage complex maternal conditions including HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, pre-eclampsia, and uterine rupture
- Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
- Assist with surgical procedures such as cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
- Provide postpartum support including lactation assistance, fundus/lochia checks, and wound care
- Deliver pain management support including epidural, IV conscious sedation, and PCA use
- Scrub color for L&D not specified by facility
- No parking fees at this facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply given prior L&D experience
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
- Former permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period
- Local candidates accepted at standard bill rate
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are subject to local radius rules
- Background checks with Nursys or prior background hits are not accepted by this facility
