Description:
Float Registered Nurse position requiring charge experience and cardiac step-down experience, which is ideal but not mandatory. Work schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. Patient population may include ER boarded patients, telemetry, and medical-surgical cases. The team floats to fill the needs of different units within the institution. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary between 1:4 to 1:6, depending on unit acuity.
Charge nurse experience is necessary for this role. Responsibilities may include core charge duties such as managing staffing needs, bed flow, and general coordination. The position requires experience in telemetry and the ability to interpret dysrhythmias. Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE is essential. Experience with managing dysrhythmias and working with telemetry is expected. The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams.
Additional patient care will vary by specific unit needs. Travelers may be required to float to nearby facilities. Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment.
