Homeland Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organization to identify an experienced Operations Lead to serve as a key technical expert within formulation operations. The Operations Lead will leverage deep pharmaceutical formulation expertise to support manufacturing processes, troubleshoot complex production challenges, optimize product performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in a highly regulated environment.
This Operations Lead role is primarily focused on technical leadership rather than people management, making it an excellent opportunity for experienced Formulation Supervisors, Formulation Managers, or formulation professionals who want to remain hands‑on while expanding their influence across manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Services, Engineering, and R&D teams to improve operational performance and ensure the successful production of life‑saving pharmaceutical therapies.
Responsibilities- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for formulation processes within pharmaceutical manufacturing operations
- Provide formulation leadership and guidance to support safe, efficient, and compliant production activities
- Troubleshoot formulation, process, and product performance issues to ensure manufacturing success
- Support process scale-up, technology transfer, validation, and formulation optimization initiatives
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Technical Services, and R&D teams to resolve technical challenges and improve performance
- Analyze manufacturing data, identify trends, and recommend solutions to enhance product quality and operational efficiency
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on formulation processes, product performance, and manufacturing excellence
- Participate in investigations, root cause analyses, deviation management, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities
- Ensure compliance with cGMP regulations, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support the implementation of process enhancements and operational excellence initiatives across formulation operations
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline required
- Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical formulation experience within a drug manufacturing environment required
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, preferred
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical formulation processes and manufacturing operations required
- Experience supporting commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing activities required
- Demonstrated success troubleshooting formulation, process, and manufacturing issues required
- Experience with formulation scale‑up and technology transfer activities, preferred
- Experience supporting oral solid dose, sterile, and/or specialty pharmaceutical products, preferred
- Prior experience serving as a Formulation Supervisor, Formulation Manager, or similar technical leadership role, preferred
- Strong knowledge of cGMP regulations, pharmaceutical quality systems, and regulatory compliance requirements required
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections, audits, and quality investigations, preferred
- Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, and/or Continuous Improvement experience, preferred
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data‑driven decision‑making skills required
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and cross‑functional partnership skills required
This role offers a competitive annual salary range of $102,000–$163,000, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus of up to 10%. Our client also provides opportunities for career advancement, annual merit increases, and long‑term professional growth.
