Our team is growing! The Applied Technologies division at Wagstaff specializes in the Engineering and Fabrication of stainless steel glove boxes and shipping containers for the nuclear industry. We’re looking for dedicated and motivated people to join our Team to supply this mission critical equipment to our Customers.

Pay: $26.00 - $38.00 per hour, depending on experience and certifications

Sign-On Bonus: $7,500 (terms & conditions apply)

Job Summary

Ensure that quality standards and contract specifications are met by assessing products to specified criteria using defined processes, tools, and sound quality practices. Participate in the continuous improvement of quality processes and work in dynamic cross functional teams to complete mission driven goals and objectives.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Perform weld and NDE (VT/PT/MT/UT) inspections on various stainless steel and carbon steel weldments and fabricated equipment
  • Inspect and report on materials, services, processes, and products using measuring instruments and techniques to ensure conformance with quality standards and contract specifications
  • Create and maintain paper and electronic quality records and reports
  • Participates in problem solving and continuous improvement activities
  • Work closely with Fabrication and Engineering throughout the fabrication/inspection process
  • Represent Wagstaff when interacting with Auditors, Customers, Suppliers and Visitors
  • Collect, monitor, organize, report, and distribute data as it relates to quality functions of Wagstaff
  • Abide by company policies
  • In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Must have at least five (5) years of UT (ultrasonic testing) Shear Wave weld inspection experience in a regulated industry (nuclear, boiler & pressure vessel, aerospace, oil & gas, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of NDE principles and techniques and be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods certified for
  • Ability to setup and calibrate NDE equipment and trouble-shoot associated problems
  • Must be able to read fabrication and mechanical drawings and have a basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Must have vision capable of reading a Jaeger Number 1 or equivalent type and size letter at no less than 12 inches (natural or corrected vision). Candidates cannot be color blind
  • Must be physically able to perform inspections in a manufacturing environment, including the operation of overhead cranes, jibs, and forklifts after undergoing company training
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office business software
  • Ability to learn company ERP and Issue Tracking software
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough

Preferred candidate qualifications:

  • Current AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI or SCWI)
  • NDE Level II credentials (VT/PT/MT/UT) or the ability to quickly acquire NDE Level II credentials with company-provided training and certification
  • Experience with AWS D1.1 & 1.6 structural steel welding codes
  • Experience with ASME Section VIII-1 and/or Section III weld inspections highly desirable.
  • Working experience with stainless steel fabrication and inspection highly desirable.
  • Experience with stainless steel GTAW and LLBW processes

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery and equipment, and vibration.
