About this position

Description:

Position Summary

The QC Inspector is responsible for performing in-process, First Article, and final inspections to verify that manufactured products, components, and processes conform to engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements. This position supports the company’s AS9100D-certified Quality Management System by identifying and documenting non-conforming conditions, maintaining accurate inspection records, and ensuring products meet established quality requirements prior to shipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform first article, in-process, final, and source inspection activities as required.
  • Inspect thermoformed, routed and assembled parts and/or components in accordance with drawings, specifications, work instructions, and inspection plans.
  • Interpret engineering documents, specifications, purchase orders, work orders and other applicable documentation.
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections using calibrated inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pingauges and other precision measuring tools.
  • Document inspection results accurately and completely on inspection logs, inspection records, or within the company’s ERP system.
  • Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming material or product in accordance with the company’s Control of Nonconforming Product procedure.
  • Generate or assist with Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) when products or processes do not meet specified requirements.
  • Assist with root cause investigations, corrective actions, and verification of corrective-action effectiveness when requested.
  • Immediately report questionable conditions, discrepancies, or potential nonconformities to the Quality Manager or appropriate personnel.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Production, and Quality personnel to resolve inspection-related issues.
  • Support product release activities by ensuring required inspection and quality documentation has been completed.
  • Assist with internal audits, customer audits, supplier-related activities, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all company procedures, work instructions, safety requirements, and AS9100D quality-system requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing or precision machining environment.
  • Experience working within an AS9100 or ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System.
  • Experience performing first article, in-process, and final inspection.
  • Experience interpreting GD&T and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with CMMs, FARO Arm, height gauges, surface plates, or other advanced inspection equipment.
  • Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP or quality management software.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing inspection, machining, fabrication, assembly, or a related field; aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and inspection requirements.
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of dimensional inspection and measurement techniques.
  • Proficiency using common inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to enter and retrieve information from ERP/MRP or quality systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to identify, document, and appropriately escalated nonconforming conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a production/manufacturing environment and meet established inspection priorities.
