Job SummaryThe International Strategies Associate Fellow will support the International Team at C2ES in advancing key priorities under the Paris Agreement and the UNFCCC. The role involves research, analysis, and engagement on international climate policy issues including mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, climate action, transparency, just transitions, energy efficiency, carbon markets, and climate finance. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to policy‑relevant research, publications, stakeholder engagement, and communications while supporting C2ES’s role as a trusted convener and thought leader in international climate policy.
Responsibilities- Conduct independent research and analysis on international climate policy issues, particularly within the UNFCCC process.
- Track, monitor, and report on global climate policy developments, including key countries, target geographical regions, and institutions such as the International Energy Agency, IPCC, and UNDP Climate Promise.
- Draft and support production of reports, policy briefs, blogs, web content, and presentations.
- Support implementation of the international team’s communications strategy, including managing publications pipelines.
- Assist with planning, coordination, and logistics for events, workshops, briefings, and convenings.
- Participate in webinars, in‑person events, and (as applicable) UNFCCC meetings, including intersessional meetings.
- Support stakeholder engagement by building and maintaining relationships with governments, institutions, and other partners.
- Contribute to C2ES engagement in UNFCCC negotiations, the Global Climate Action Agenda, and related processes.
- Provide support for proposals, consultants or third‑party contributors as needed.
- Contribute to a positive organizational culture, including participation in regular events such as all‑staff meetings and meetings of the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Council, and by modeling the organization’s values.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and at least two years familiarity with international climate policy and institutions, particularly the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement.
- Strong knowledge of specific thematic areas such as mitigation, climate finance, adaptation, loss and damage, or carbon markets.
- Proven research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual collaboration tools such as Teams and Zoom.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience in multicultural or international settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including stakeholder engagement.
- Interest in communications, digital platforms, and content development.
