Responsible for evaluating, developing, optimizing, qualifying and/or validating products, processes, and methods to support the business objectives of Jubilant Hollister Stier’s Allergy Business Unit (ABU).
The Scientist II independently executes well‑defined experiments and owns small work streams, applying scientific judgment to maintain data integrity and improve methods or processes with oversight.
Responsibilities- Complete studies and lab testing directed by R&D Leadership to enhance, qualify and promote the quality of JHS’s allergen product line.
- Analyze raw materials, in‑process products, finished products, or investigational new products according to established or alternative procedures to support projects.
- Perform experiments to support product and/or process enhancements, new innovations, and/or provide technical support.
- Maintain clear, concise, and accurate records of all work performed, including analytical results and salient data, in accordance with good documentation practices.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all equipment and processes used in required work.
- Develop and maintain a basic understanding of the scientific principles associated with the methods, processes and products being developed, optimized, evaluated and/or qualified.
- Provide scientifically based input into the design, writing and implementation of study plans, technical documents, summary reports, and standard operating procedures for new or ongoing R&D projects.
- Maintain and operate laboratory or processing equipment to assure accuracy and confidence in performance.
- Serve as R&D representative on project teams as needed to support ABU objectives.
- Plan and execute experiments independently.
- Select appropriate techniques and justify methods.
- Maintain equipment and ensure SOP compliance.
- Frame hypotheses and test incremental improvements.
- Evaluate alternatives using data.
- Apply structured root‑cause analysis.
- Own small work streams with simple execution plans.
- Identify risks early and elevate as required.
- Coordinate with QA, Analytics, and Manufacturing.
- Prepare concise summaries and visualizations.
- Share technical knowledge; act as a peer resource.
- Inform better practices.
- Propose experimental innovations across domains.
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field required.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant laboratory and/or manufacturing experience in a relevant industry required.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, FDA‐regulated industry, or laboratory preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
- Knowledge and understanding of the sciences necessary to perform the functions of this position.
- Ability to utilize scientific literature and produce effective written and oral reports that are clear, accurate, and logical.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and represent the department on project teams.
- Working knowledge of statistics, computer‑assisted data processing, and cGMP desirable.
- Self‑motivated with strong communication and human relations skills, able to schedule, prioritize, and organize time effectively.
