The Opportunity:
As the Research Intern for the Krueger Lab with College of Veterinary Medicine, you will perform research in the neurobiology of sleep, circadian rhythms, feeding, thermoregulation, and related central nervous system functions. Your work performed includes surgical and behavioral manipulation of experiments, computerized collection and analysis of physiological and behavioral data, and basic tissue sampling procedures. The work in biorhythms sometimes requires non-traditional work hours for tissue collections and other experimental manipulations.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible. Temporary End Date:
This is a temporary position expected to end on August 31, 2027. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Monthly Salary: $3,379.14 - $3,750 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing work with research, scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. B.A. or B.S. in a science-related field (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, or Animal Science).
- Proficient in computer skills including e.g. spread sheets and word processing and statistical software.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory methods (making solutions, pipetting, operating autoclave and centrifuges).
- Experience with small laboratory animal handling/research.
- Demonstrated general knowledge of statistics.
- Experience with animal surgical procedures.
- Experience with polysomnographic coding software.
