As a Chef Operator, you will build a team driven by culinary excellence and lead them to new skills in our scratch‑based kitchen. In our operation, you continuously look at business from a strategic, systematic lens to set you and your team up for success.

Staying organized while managing logistics and thinking big‑picture in a fast‑paced environment is key to your role as Chef Operator. You will manage menu evolution, test new initiatives, delegate, multitask, and ensure the team handles any new challenge. You will clearly communicate and uphold culinary standards, roll out projects, maintain all DOH guidelines, and inspire your team toward a better food future.

About

the Team

Our restaurants use a traditional brigade system. As Chef Operator, you are the first in command with true ownership over your restaurant. You partner directly with the Chef de Cuisine to drive success and report to the Field Leadership Team. You collaborate with other restaurant leaders to ensure the team is well‑trained and organized, delivering guests an experience that goes beyond a great meal.

You

Will
  • Be responsible for the entire restaurant operation, including P&L, food cost management, labor efficiency, guest experience, and top‑line sales.
  • Collaborate with the CDC on QA processes and convert guest feedback into actionable insights.
  • Manage new initiatives and scheduled launches while instilling an entrepreneurial spirit in the team.
  • Monitor operational flow, ensuring culinary and DOH standards/protocols are followed.
  • Handle all issues with technology, systems, and off‑site ordering platforms, proactively troubleshooting.
  • Be the face of hospitality by interacting with guests and delivery drivers, providing exceptional service and training concierge roles.
  • Document and communicate all employee relations conversations, including performance and growth model discussions.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new culinarians.
  • Review and collaborate on people development plans for succession planning.
  • Communicate daily across systems and conduct pre‑shift & chef’s table briefings to keep the team informed.
  • Strictly uphold Dig’s anti‑discrimination and anti‑harassment policies.
You Have
  • 3‑5 years minimum kitchen or operational restaurant management experience.
  • A passion for real, good food and the leadership skills to operate a scratch‑based, ever‑changing kitchen.
  • The willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in whenever necessary.
  • Demonstrated skills to motivate and develop a high‑performing team.
  • Discipline and desire to create systems and organization within fast‑changing environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and an eye for detail.
  • Strong computer skills and ease navigating digital ordering systems.
  • Ability to learn technological platforms and work systematically with them.
  • Familiarity with restaurant costing and inventory software.
  • Physical capability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds (reasonable accommodations available).
  • Desire for professional improvement and a learning mindset.
  • Drive to network and build strong community ties within your restaurant.
  • Ability to analyze variables and find optimal solutions.
  • Department of Health and/or Serv Safe certification.
