Position: Server, Full-Time

Job Summary

The Server is responsible for making the residents’ dining experience pleasant and positive by providing the highest-quality dining service that considers resident preferences and exceptional customer service, while maintaining dining areas, seating residents, and serving meals.

Hours:

35‑40 per week

Pay Rate: $20‑$23 (DOE)

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional dining service by taking accurate food orders and serving appetizing and visually appealing meals to residents, family members, and guests in a professional, efficient, and courteous manner.
  • Uphold a high standard of table etiquette by serving from the left, clearing dishes between courses, and resetting tables for subsequent service to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with residents in a friendly and courteous manner, assisting with meal and menu selections and attending to their dining needs as necessary or requested.
  • Review and adhere to residents’ dietary needs, restrictions, and preferences as outlined by the Supervisor and in their care plan.
  • Track resident meal attendance and communicate with designated team members in a timely manner for a safety check on absent residents.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere by ensuring all residents are properly and promptly greeted and seated, with special attention given to integrating new residents.
  • Deliver meals to and retrieve trays from residents’ rooms after meal service for those who opt for room service.
  • Ensure a clean, sanitary dining area, including tables, chairs, and serving stations, and fully comply with all food safety handling and service protocols.
  • Clean the dining area, set up and reset tables, return dishes to the kitchen, fold napkins, and maintain and restock dining supplies, ensuring proper storage and inventory of food and condiments.
  • Assist in breaking down deliveries, putting away stock, washing dishes, and other tasks to support overall kitchen and dining services.
  • Assist in community marketing efforts through positive interactions, grooming, and dress standards.
  • Cooperate and assist with other kitchen and dining services to ensure residents have a positive dining experience.
  • Promptly report any safety or equipment issues to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests following established safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with Federal, State, and local regulations, and company policies concerning the department.
  • Promote teamwork and open communication through consistent mentoring, coaching, and recognition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed by Lead, Supervisor, Director of Dining Services, or designee.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), highly preferred.
  • Exposure to restaurant operations or the ability to learn.
Required Competencies and Certifications
  • Must be 18 years or older or have a proper work permit.
  • Must complete required background clearances, health screening, and provide a negative TB test result within 7 days of employment.
  • Basic counting skills (tracking meals/residents, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills in speaking, writing, understanding, and reading English.
  • Ability to operate standard serving equipment (salad bar, heating cart, trays, etc.).
  • Professional demeanor and ability to handle residents, family members, guests, vendors, and the public tactfully.
  • Must meet all state-specific regulatory requirements, such as Food Handler Certification.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including standing for prolonged periods, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive motion. Able to move intermittently throughout the workday and in the community. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push up to 250 pounds, as necessary.
