POSITIONSUMMARY
The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing attractive, nutritional meals and snacks for the food service program provided to residents under a residential treatment program, staff and guests; maintains kitchen areas, storage areas, and food service equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Fosters a safe and positive work environment, following all safety/cleaning/sanitizing procedures in alignment with organization customer service and safety standards.
- Follow all food safety guidelines, reporting any concerns to supervisor or designee immediately.
- Attends and participates in all required staff meetings/trainings deemed necessary by the Kitchen Supervisor, PSSD Director, and/or HL7N to accomplish organizational objectives of the position and for professional development.
- Ensure hourly/daily/weekly/monthly checklists are completed in support of overall kitchen operations (i.e. cleaning, stocking, maintaining kitchen preparation space, and processing of food products).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Candidates must meet the minimum educational and experience requirements for the position and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant applications.
- Minimum one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to follow recipes in an accurate and timely manner, meeting production deadlines.
- Operation of kitchen equipment, cooking utensils in a food service facility required.
- Must have knowledge of regulations and procedures used in food preparation, serving and storage.
- 2+ years kitchen production experience and/or training in the culinary arts.
- Excellent understanding of food preparation fundamentals.
- Sound understanding of food allergies and foodborne illnesses.
- Experience with menu planning and creative food preparation techniques.
- Experience and/or training working with at-risk adolescents in a therapeutic environment and/or residential treatment or other institutional type environment.
- Experience working with and/or knowledge of Native American communities, history, and culture preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic mathematical skills, ability to work independently, and excellent interpersonal skills preferred.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The employee will experience frequent reaching, walking and standing on quarry tile floors, lifting, stooping, or carrying of equipment and materials may be required.
