Job Description & How to Apply Below

Ethelyn Design, Studio Forme, The Edit Room, and Monroe Gardens are interconnected creative businesses built around thoughtful design, community, and creating spaces that feel grounding, inspiring, and human. Our work blends interior design, curated retail, collaborative creative space, and small-scale events, with a strong emphasis on ethical sourcing, intentional environments, and meaningful relationships.

A central part of our mission is making interior design approachable and safe. Creating spaces where people feel comfortable exploring their style without judgment. We believe good design should feel welcoming, personal, and accessible, and that the environments we create should support both beauty and well-being.

These businesses are currently being built and launched in phases. Our spaces are intentionally designed to feel calm, welcoming, and inspiring. Environments where people can slow down, feel supported, and reconnect with creativity. We value quality over quantity, sustainability over trends, and creating experiences that feel authentic and considered.

We are looking for the right person to step into a trusted support role during this growth phase, someone who takes pride not only in maintaining systems, but in helping build them.

The Role

This is not a traditional assistant position. You will work directly with the owner as a right hand in daily operations, helping create structure, continuity, and calm across multiple projects and spaces. The right person brings both organization and presence, someone who notices what needs to be done, takes initiative, and represents the businesses with professionalism and care.

Because our businesses are actively being built and launched, this role includes both operational support and hands‑on involvement in creating the spaces themselves.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Calendar and schedule management
  • Email organization and communication support
  • Administrative and organizational support for interior design projects
  • Assisting with showroom staging, furniture placement, and visual merchandising
  • Helping prepare spaces for openings, events, and seasonal transitions
  • Assisting with grand opening preparation and execution
  • Managing product sales and customer checkout during open hours
  • Assisting with inventory tracking and product ordering
  • Supporting Studio Forme workshops, members, and events
  • Coordinating Monroe Gardens events, including scheduling, vendor communication, and ensuring permits, insurance, and documentation are in place
  • Assisting in developing operational processes and procedures as the businesses grow
  • Light bookkeeping organization and document preparation
  • Running occasional local errands or pickups
  • Helping maintain a calm, welcoming, and professional environment for clients, members, and guests
Who You Are
  • Highly organized and naturally proactive
  • Calm, reliable, and steady when things become busy or overwhelming
  • Empathetic and emotionally intelligent, with an awareness of how people experience spaces and interactions
  • Comfortable managing multiple moving parts and evolving priorities
  • Strong written communicator with good judgment
  • Takes pride in representing a business and its values
  • Has a genuine interest in design, interiors, and well‑crafted spaces
  • Appreciates aesthetics and understands how environment affects experience
  • Values integrity, kindness, and professionalism

A background in interior design, retail, or a related creative field is strongly preferred.

Bonus Skills (Not Required)
  • Interior design or showroom experience
  • Retail sales or merchandising experience
  • Social media or content assistance
  • Familiarity with Squarespace, Canva, or basic design software
  • Quick Books or basic bookkeeping familiarity
  • Experience coordinating permits, insurance certificates, or vendor documentation
Compensation

$27–34/hour depending on experience and responsibilities. This role is expected to grow as the businesses launch and expand.
