Job Responsibilities
Safety
- Maintain a safe work environment for employees and customers by prioritizing safety.
- Keep gas pumps, lot, and store areas clean and free of debris.
- Work with the Safety Team and conduct monthly mandatory meetings and trainings.
- Report safety incidents promptly and comply with safety policies, programs, and processes.
Leadership and Personnel Management
- Train, develop, guide, and evaluate employees to operate the store effectively and safely to provide superior customer service.
- Maintain a professional and supportive image among staff and supervisors.
- As back-up to Store Managers, prepare and submit all employee paperwork accurately and timely (e.g., performance appraisals, notices, new hire checklists).
- Ensure continuous on-the-job and company-required training to improve customer service and safety awareness.
- Motivate, provide feedback, and recognize employees to improve performance at the individual, team, and store level.
- Address employee performance and violation issues as back-up to Store Manager.
- Set and communicate performance expectations and evaluate actual performance as an extension of the Store Manager.
- Develop potential employees through coaching and training for promotion readiness.
- Carry out all company policies.
Customer Service and Site Relationships
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service; assist customers at the pump and resolve issues.
- Accurately ring up sales on the POS system and follow cash handling procedures.
- Develop positive relationships with customers, vendors, and contractors.
- Maintain cash, monies, and inventory during shifts.
- Ensure the store is clean, adequately stocked, and organized for fast, convenient, and professional service.
- Maintain a friendly, welcoming, well-maintained store environment and promote a positive customer buying experience.
- Monitor customer needs and expectations and promote programs and suggestive selling.
- Assist customers at the pump and in the store to locate products and operate equipment.
- Solicit customer feedback through consistent personal interaction and engagement.
- Resolve complaints quickly and sincerely to the satisfaction of customers, vendors, and contractors.
- Promote and maintain a safe, positive public image within the community; grow Loyalty Rewards program.
Business and Financial Management
- Plan and manage store activities to maximize operating profit.
- Monitor fuel sales volume and competitor pricing to assist pricing strategy development.
- Monitor merchandise, food movement, and competitor offerings to inform product mix and pricing.
- Maintain store layout and product displays per schematics.
- Execute store-level promotions and support network-wide campaigns.
- Manage fuel, merchandise, and food inventory to ensure optimum stocking levels.
- Control operating expenses including maintenance, utilities, and inventory loss.
- Prepare and submit daily sales reports accurately and timely, including invoices and bank deposits.
- Safeguard and account for all money received and disbursed.
- Organize and maintain site files, manuals, and other information materials.
- Receive merchandise using proper check-in procedures with vendors.
- Obtain and maintain all required food and age-restricted product certifications within 2 weeks of employment.
Facilities Management
- Assist in maintaining appearance standards of paving, lighting, canopy, and other structures.
- Report facility issues as needed and ensure facilities and equipment are in safe working order.
- Maintain dispensing and store equipment to ensure clean, sanitary, and safe working conditions.
- Ensure required signage and decals are posted.
Personnel Assistance
- Maintain a professional and supportive image among subordinates and supervisor.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to create, maintain, and improve teamwork; provide training assistance to new associates.
- Assist with staffing and scheduling labor to meet customer demand within budget.
