Bakery Sales Clerk – Retail

A Bakery Sales Clerk at Albertsons Safeway delivers customer service, manages bakery products, and ensures a clean, safe, and well-presented display. The role requires excellent customer interaction and attention to product quality.

• Provide high-quality customer service in accordance with company standards and policies.
• Maintain cleanliness of the bakery area, including display cases, work surfaces, and overall presentation.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local food safety and employee safety regulations.
• Inform customers about bakery products and services, provide samples, and promote sales within the department.
• Take bakery orders over the telephone or in person.
• Operate the electronic cash register, receive final payment from customers (cash or credit/debit card), and accurately make proper change.
• Restock bakery shelves as needed and move trays of baked goods from preparation to display areas.
• Monitor bakery stock to identify expired or nearly expired items for markdown or disposal.
• Use sales reports to identify opportunities and communicate sale items via intercom.
• Operate the price labeling machine and apply price stickers to packaged items.
• Adhere to the company’s uniform and grooming policy.

• Ability to operate a bread slicer and other required equipment.
• Demonstrated customer service experience or related skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions, read product labels, and internal guidelines.
• Multi‑tasking ability and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Self‑motivated with a desire to increase knowledge of Albertsons Safeway products.
• Reliable attendance; employees may be scheduled for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with weekly schedule variations.
