JOB OPPORTUNITY – Wastewater Treatment Facility Mechanic (Facilities Mechanic/Operator)

Are you a skilled mechanic who takes pride in environmental stewardship, public service, and keeping vital systems running? The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) is seeking a full-time Wastewater Treatment Facility Mechanic (Facilities Mechanic/Operator) to join our Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Department. In this essential role, you'll help safeguard public health and the environment by maintaining process equipment to ensure high standards of treatment and compliance across our operations.

About the Role:

As a Wastewater Treatment Facility Mechanic (Facilities Mechanic/Operator), you’ll be part of the dedicated team responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining AWWD’s wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) to ensure compliance with District, local, state, and federal regulations. Reporting to the WWTF Manager and with assistance from the WWTF Operators, you’ll lead high-level repairs to a variety of treatment process equipment at the WWTF.

Once the proper certifications are obtained, you’ll also take part in performing the work of a WWTF Operator outside of mechanic. This position may be required to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of normal working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key focus areas include:

  • Perform general and complex maintenance and repair tasks on plant equipment and facilities; perform carpentry, masonry and building maintenance duties as required; and maintain a clean work area
  • Participate in the operation, repair, maintenance, and upkeep of the Wastewater Treatment Facility
  • Coordinate and manage a preventative maintenance schedule for the WWTF with use of the District’s CMMS software.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of wastewater treatment operations and mechanical experience, and a commitment to public health and safety. Additionally, will have the flexibility to fulfill the WWTF Operator duties as needed, provided they meet the minimum qualifications for that classification as well. You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy problem solving, working with equipment, and being part of a mission-driven team.

This position offers opportunities to apply your technical skills, solve problems, and contribute to our mission of delivering clean, reliable wastewater services for a growing community. If you’re ready to make a lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you!
