Field/Service Technician, Installation Technician
What You Will Do
Under general direction, perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement of HVAC mechanical equipment and Building Control Systems. Assist branch leadership with coaching and mentoring of branch technicians to deliver customer satisfaction and follow operational processes. Provide Level 1 technical support and help others with technical development. Ensure work complies with state, local, and federal legal requirements and uphold the highest standards of ethics.
Complete required project and service documentation. Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items, acting as a trusted advisor to deliver solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
- Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards.
- Provide safety leadership and instruction to all technicians.
- Provide safety awareness and instruction to subcontractors on Johnson Controls work sites.
- Recognize as a leader by peers while coaching and mentoring within the branch.
- Escalate technical issues and provide on‑job training for other technicians.
- Provide solutions to others on very complex system problems by troubleshooting or advising.
- Escalate critical issues from the branch to the technical resource team in Milwaukee.
- Be viewed as an expert in the given field by employees and customers.
- Assist management in ensuring proper field operational disciplines of other technicians are followed.
- Provide input on development and training needs of the branch.
- Assist in developing quotes and estimates for identified L&M work and submit to the customer, service manager, or customer service agent, as appropriate.
- Assist in identifying material needs required for service delivery.
- Assist the service manager or customer service agent with identifying and scheduling individuals with the correct skills and knowledge to perform repairs or installation.
- Communicate with the customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by meeting regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems.
- Keep customers informed on the nature of service provided, outstanding issues, and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, or repairs.
- Manage assigned work to meet a professional level of execution, on‑time and to customer satisfaction.
- Provide consultant‑level services for customers related to building system repairs and enhancements.
- Ensure ultimate customer satisfaction levels with assigned customers.
- Conduct self‑study (reading, research, and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency.
- Complete all training and certifications required by the company.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities, and provide quotes to support recommendations.
- Experience in the given field with strong leadership activities demonstrated.
- Ability to act independently and coordinate the work of other employees and contractors on a customer site.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts.
- Able to explain technical information to technical and non‑technical people.
Pay Range: $52.33 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
