Aircraft Mechanic III

Global Logistics Support Services, Incorporated (GLSS) is a Wholly Owned Subsidiary of System Studies and Simulation, Inc (S3). GLSS is looking for an Aircraft Mechanic III in Spokane, WA. The position is contingent on award of contract and military experience is a plus.

The Aircraft Mechanic III leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance inspections and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance. The role involves supervising subordinate mechanics and providing technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported.

• The mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units.
• Uses hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
• Reads and interprets manufacturers', airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
• Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine-mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves.
• Inspects and tests components with hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
• Removes engine from aircraft using a hoist or forklift truck, disassembles and inspects parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, repairs or replaces defective engine parts, reassembles, and reinstalls engine in aircraft.
• Adjusts, makes repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.
• Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
• Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A&P License or Military Service School Certification of training in Aviation Maintenance.
• Active DOW Secret Security Clearance desired.
• Five (5) years of experience on an Air Force wide-body platform (preferably KC-135) or equivalent.
• Experience with installation of aircraft modifications that involve drilling, cutting, or punching sheet metal to install new fittings, fasteners, or instruments/displays in accordance with blueprints, technical documents, or TCTO.
• Experience reading, interpreting technical instructions including blueprints and TCTO instructions.
• Ability to recognize when instructions or blueprints are vague, incomplete, or unclear and request additional technical information.
• Ability to prioritize workload to maintain schedule on assigned projects.
• May require specialization in sheet-metal, electrical work, avionics, or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
