TEMPORARY SEASONAL ELECTRO MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Join the Spokane Parks and Recreation team today as a temporary seasonal Electro Mechanical Technician. This temporary seasonal position is intended to provide supplemental support for the safe operation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all aerial lift systems and attraction rides in accordance with policies, manufacturer specifications, ANSI standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. This position performs preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical lift systems, including 480V three-phase systems, low-voltage safety circuits, and relay logic controls.

The Lift Maintenance Mechanic supports daily lift operations, seasonal maintenance projects, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, guest service, and operational reliability. Work is medium in nature with a significant degree of walking, standing, lifting and climbing. Work is performed under disagreeable conditions such as adverse weather, noise, crowds, and electricity, and requires close attention to prevent errors. Subject to shift work and irregular hours.

Employee plans and arranges most of own work referring unusual cases to the supervisor.

Examples of Job Functions
  • Repairs and maintains a variety of electrical and mechanical devices such as, but not limited to, the following: sound systems, projection systems, lighting systems, air compressors, hydraulic systems, coin mechanisms, electrical circuitry, logic boards, electronics, ice resurfaces, motors and braking systems.
  • Works closely with training attendants in proper and safe operation of amusement attractions and devices.
  • Responds to and assists with amusement ride or attraction related emergencies. Trouble shoots electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems that fail; performs on the spot repairs as necessary to keep events, attractions and activities going as planned.
  • Develops ongoing preventative maintenance plans and schedules the repair of electrical, electronic, and mechanical devices that need repair but do not have to be repaired while operations are in progress.
  • Keeps records as required.
  • Performs related work as required.
Requirements of Work
  • Knowledge of safety requirements for maintenance, repair and operation of amusement rides and ice facility compressors and equipment.
  • Ability to establish, maintain and supervise a preventive maintenance program for the above; ability to trouble shoot system failures and perform on-the-spot maintenance for a wide variety of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with other employees, the public, contractors and suppliers of systems and coordinate the repair work that cannot be done locally with the supplier.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to see, with or without corrective lenses, well enough to read schematics.
  • Ability to hear, with or without a hearing aid, well enough to distinguish frequency distortion.
  • Ability to speak well enough to converse on phone and direct people in case of an emergency.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and install objects such as amusement ride parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Enough body mobility to work on ladders and catwalks to maintain attractions, and climb Sky Ride towers, Ferris Wheel hubs and roller-coaster tracks.
  • Enough manual dexterity handle precision measuring tools and work with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of lift maintenance, mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, or related experience required.
  • Experience with ski lift systems, detachable lift systems, or tramway maintenance preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of 480V three-phase electrical systems, low-voltage safety systems, relay logic, motor controls, and hydraulic systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure during lift stoppages or emergency situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
