Supervisory Social Worker

The Supervisory Social Worker is responsible for coordination, day-to-day management, and clinical oversight of assigned social work services and programs, which may include Geriatrics and Extended Care, inpatient units and specified specialty programs. The incumbent provides professional practice oversight, direct clinical services, and program coordination for the assigned area, and participates in staff development, education, and competency training activities.

The Supervisory Social Worker is responsible for the professional and administrative management of assigned social work staff and program(s), including monitoring workload, quality of care, and compliance with applicable standards and policies. The Supervisory Social Worker provides daily clinical and administrative supervision to assigned social workers, including guidance and technical direction needed to accomplish the work.

Duties include orienting and training new staff, developing and maintaining position descriptions and functional statements, establishing performance standards, completing competency assessments, and preparing timely performance appraisals. The incumbent evaluates staff performance, provides counseling and coaching when performance is marginal or unsatisfactory, initiates disciplinary action when necessary, and helps resolve conflicts among staff.

The incumbent plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short- and long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work based on program needs.

The Supervisory Social Worker participates in recruitment activities, serves on interview panels, and makes recommendations regarding selection and retention of social work staff.

The incumbent identifies staff training needs and facilitates access to continuing education, including opportunities such as case conferences, workshops, and other professional development activities.

The Supervisory Social Worker assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures for assigned programs, and provides input into service-level policy development when appropriate.

The incumbent oversees the professional practice functions of assigned staff, ensures appropriate documentation and hand-off of patient care, and promotes effective collaboration with other disciplines and services.

The Supervisory Social Worker may provide direct clinical services, including assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, resource coordination, and supportive counseling, in accordance with the needs of the program and the Veteran population served.

Work Schedule:

Monday thru Friday 8:00-4:30pm.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year).

Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
