About This RoleThis is a highly relational, guest-centered role that uses Housing First, low-barrier, and trauma-informed practices to walk alongside families in crisis, helping them remove barriers, navigate housing systems, and secure stable, permanent housing as quickly as possible.
Case Managers collaborate with the Shelter team, Stabilization/Keep Housing Programs team, and community partners to ensure coordinated and compassionate support. This position requires emotional intelligence, adaptability to chaotic environments, and a deep commitment to Family Promise of Spokane’s Core Values:

1. Direct Case Management & Housing Navigation
- Conduct comprehensive intake, assessment, and goal-setting with each assigned household.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized case plans with clear housing goals.
- Assist guests in completing housing applications, scheduling housing appointments, and navigating landlord relationships.
- Maintain weekly check-ins (minimum) with each household until stable housing is secured.
- Provide accurate, timely, and objective case notes and documentation within 48 hours in the case management database and maintain an up-to-date Google Calendar.
- Diversion Case Management (Within the Standard Case Management Role)
- Diversion case management is a specialized intervention within the standard Case Manager role and does not replace or reduce the core case management responsibilities outlined above. Case Managers assigned to diversion work are required to carry out all standard case management and housing navigation duties, in addition to diversion-specific activities.
- Build trusting, professional relationships with guest families using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
- Connect households to supportive services (childcare, employment, transportation, healthcare) to remove barriers to housing.
- De-escalate challenging situations and maintain a strong safe, inclusive, and low-barrier environment aligned with Family Promise values.
