Summary

RNDC is looking for a collaborative and energetic Route Driver to join our growing Operations team. The Cross Class Driver provides reliable and courteous delivery service to customers with safety as a top priority; acts as a communication link between customers and operations management; operates and maintains assigned vehicle(s); and maintains vehicle and customer records.

Responsibilities
  • Operates assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner. Maintains defensive driving. Provides a communication link between customers and staff.
  • Reads and interprets maps and driving directions; maintains accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, customer forms, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other records requested from management.
  • Serves as a positive role model while providing delivery service.
  • Cleans, inspects, and services the assigned vehicle.
  • Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse product. Obtains customer signature or collects payment for goods delivered and delivery charges.
  • Assists in loading and unloading truck manually.
  • Delivers merchandise to assigned customers promptly, safely, professionally, and in a friendly manner while prioritizing customer needs.
  • Returns all delivery receipts to the appropriate supervisor at the end of the shift. Works as a team with fellow associates in a cooperative, constructive manner.
  • Checks accuracy and stability of the load.
  • Maintains company vehicle in an orderly manner; performs daily inspections and completes DOT mandated paperwork.
  • Maintains preventive maintenance for company vehicles.
  • Maintains warehouse area; keeps it clean and organized and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Completes all paperwork promptly and accurately to support delivery and billing functions.
  • Understands and interprets policies and procedures to make decisions independently.
  • Builds and maintains quality customer relationships.
  • Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries of company products to customers.
  • Performs proper equipment maintenance as needed.
  • Collaborates with management and sales representatives to communicate customer concerns and resolutions.
  • Performs daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles.
  • Completes daily paperwork and computer data entry.
What you bring to RNDC
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Two years of delivery experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Current State driver’s license; ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Ability to obtain valid DOT medical certification card and file appropriately with state Motor Vehicle Department.
