Job Summary

Sunshine Disposal & Recycling is hiring a full‑time Tractor Trailer Driver and backup roll‑off truck driver for our Spokane Valley, WA business unit. The position is local, Monday‑Thursday, 6:30 am‑5:00 pm, and involves intrastate and interstate driving within the Spokane/North Idaho region with no overnight travel. Beginning pay is $32.50 per hour, with wage increases of $0.40 every six months for up to five years and COLA increases starting in 2027.

The role includes operating tractor‑trailer units, a Moffett forklift, and cross‑training on a roll‑off style refuse truck.

Responsibilities

Arrive on time, receive paperwork or tablet for daily trips, perform pre‑trip inspection of truck and trailer, and complete DVIR form per regulations.

Drive to stops to load and unload trailer, using the Moffett forklift to load commodities onto flatbed.

Back empty trailers into loading pit and retrieve trailers when full.

Complete required forms for record of load to office and transport company or landfill.

When assigned, tarp a full trailer, drive to processing site, untarp before unloading.

Perform vehicle and trailer post‑trip inspection, complete post‑trip DVIR, and notify site supervisor of maintenance needs.

Hook up new trailer or truck if the current tractor is not operating efficiently and requires maintenance.

Maintain a daily log of all trips taken.

Attend all safety meetings and other meetings scheduled by the company.

Perform special projects assigned by the site supervisor or other management team members.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Class A CDL (No Air Brake restriction)
Valid USDOT medical card
Minimum one year of Class A commercial driving experience
Must meet insurance carrier requirements for driving record
Police and USDOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing compliance
Prior experience with Moffett or similar forklifts preferred

Physical Abilities

Constantly (6 hours or more per day) sit, stand, walk, grasp, reach, and perform fine finger manipulation.
Occasionally (1-3 hours per day) climb, lift up to 60 lbs, pull or push, stoop or crouch, crawl or carry, and reach above head and at shoulder level.
Clear vision of at least 20 feet, with or without corrective lenses, and ability to differentiate colors.

Safety Matters

Modern fleet equipped with dash/drive cameras.
Tablet technology used on route and provided daily.
Use of cellular phones and personal electronic devices while driving is prohibited.
No smoking or vaping allowed in vehicles.
