Applicants must have a minimum of one year’s experience within the specific division being hired into and must be deemed competent to work independently.
- Under general supervision, following established policies, procedures and professional guidelines, deliver nursing care to patients.
- Plan and implement nursing care; document nursing assessments; identify and report situations requiring further intervention; formulate and communicate goal‑directed plans of care; assure patient rights.
- Perform and/or assure completed assessments on all patients admitted within the designated times delineated in policy/unit standards.
- Conduct ongoing assessments and document according to policy and procedure, reporting significant findings of admission and ongoing assessments to the appropriate member of the healthcare team.
- Initiate discharge planning process with initial admission assessment.
- Formulate individualized patient plans of care based on assessment data within the designated times delineated in policy/unit standards.
- Communicate the plan of care to other members of the healthcare team through daily worksheet conferences, verbally during the shift and shift report.
- Communicate and document all patient care given, including assessments, plan of care, interventions, patient response, and follow‑up.
- Transcribe and direct the implementation of physician orders.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes and document effectiveness of planned and implemented interventions and strategies in relation to the plan of care within time frames per policy/unit standards.
- Include patient and family in the evaluation process.
- Provide appropriate patient assessment and care specific to the needs of the patient populations served (e.g., age groups, patients of size, diagnosis‑based).
- Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the specific physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of patients as appropriate to the populations served.
- Evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans based on patient responses, contributing to ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Document patient care accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical and institutional standards.
- Education:
Associate’s Degree of Nursing (minimum). - Licenses/Certifications:
Florida RN license; BLS, ACLS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIHSS certifications required. - Minimum one year’s experience in a specialty unit and deemed competent.
