ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision, following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, delivers nursing care to patients. Plans and implements nursing care; documents nursing assessments; identifies and reports situations requiring further intervention; formulates and communicates goal‑directed plan of care; assures patient rights; performs job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital and principles of quality improvement.
Assesses and analyzes the health status of patients in the assigned unit in a comprehensive manner, performing and/or assuring completed assessments on all patients admitted within the designated time.
Conducts ongoing assessments and documents per policy, reporting significant findings to appropriate healthcare team members.
Initiates discharge planning process with initial admission assessment.
Formulates individualized patient plan of care based on assessment data, communicates it to the team through daily worksheets, verbal reports, and shift reports.
Transcribes and directs implementation of physician orders; documents all patient care, including assessments, interventions, patient responses, and follow‑up.
Conducts ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes, documenting effectiveness of interventions and strategies within specified time frames, and includes patient and family in the evaluation process.
Provides appropriate assessment and care specific to the patient population served and demonstrates knowledge of their physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs. Evaluates patient progress and adjusts care plans accordingly, contributing to ongoing improvement initiatives.
Documents patient care accurately and timely to ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
QualificationsEducation:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (minimum).
Licenses/Certifications:
Florida RN license; BLS, ACLS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a specialty unit and deemed competent.
