System Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing processes for new product/programs. Specify assembly equipment, establish process flow, estimate labor requirements, develop work instructions, design and implement error proofing, and prepare quotes and other customer required submissions.
• Establish production floor layouts that promote lean manufacturing concepts and effective usage of space.
• Coordinate department responsibilities for launches of new programs. Provide leadership and audit the process for manufacturing effectiveness and quality.
• Represent Nascote at assembly plants for problem evaluation or during launches.
• Represent Nascote at vendor shops to validate machines prior to delivery.
• Investigate process problems using the 8D or similar problem‑solving methodologies and lead teams to effective solutions.
• Periodically re‑evaluate assembly processes for improved throughput, labor utilization, and quality.
• Prepare Engineering Change documents and follow up as the changes move through departments.
• Lead the maintenance team and coordinate daily maintenance activities.
• Plan and coordinate new line equipment installation, relocation, and building additions.
• Utilize effective communication skills.
• Work various shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
• Make safety a top priority in work behavior and assembly line design.
• Mentor entry‑level assembly manufacturing engineers.

• Past work in manufacturing operations in an engineering or technical capacity.
• Preferred 3‑5 years of assembly manufacturing engineering experience.
• Preferred maintenance planning and supervision experience.
• Computer skilled in a variety of common business and engineering applications and able to learn new applications quickly.
• Competent in use of Auto‑CAD.
• Preferred experience with robotics.
• Ability to provide statements of work and effectively communicate with and manage equipment suppliers.
• Ability to be well presented to the customer and maintain composure in challenging situations.
• Able to assume supervisory duties and be effective at performing tasks through others.
• B.S. degree in an engineering discipline (required).
• Experience in the automotive industry or another assembly related field (preferred).
• In special circumstances, candidates who have not met the required education, but have substantial manufacturing work experience that is applicable to the job may be considered.
• Provides engineering assistance with respect to capital expenditures including building and equipment additions, procurements and upgrades and relocations.
• Acts as project manager for coordination of new line installations and relocations.
