Material Industrial Engineer

This role is focused on improving material flow and material handling processes within General Assembly operations. You'll identify opportunities to implement automation, optimize plant layouts, support vehicle launches, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste and increase efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze current material handling processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluate and implement automation solutions to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.
• Support plant layout reviews, redesigns, and material flow analysis.
• Develop future-state material handling concepts aligned with Factory of the Future initiatives.
• Lead and support automation projects related to material flow and material handling equipment.
• Maintain and improve PFEP (Plan for Every Part) strategies and other process improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, IT, and Plant Engineering teams to ensure successful implementation of new technologies and processes.
• Support manufacturing launch activities and ensure material handling readiness.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering within an automotive manufacturing environment.
• Experience with:
• Material flow optimization
• Material handling systems and equipment
• Manufacturing automation initiatives
• Factory of the Future material concepts
• Experience supporting facility/layout changes and layout analysis.
• Experience supporting manufacturing launches and production start-ups.
• Strong continuous improvement and problem-solving skills.
