Role

To assist customers and potential customers with their banking needs; look for cross‑sell opportunities and make appropriate referrals.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Open and close all account types; answer questions about products and services; resolve problems; assist with electronic funds transfers; provide expertise in internet banking products; direct customers to appropriate team; identify cross‑sell opportunities; perform teller duties as needed; assist in taking consumer loan applications, entering data, and help with closings.
  • Assist Branch Manager in resolving customer problems and complaints; ensure that staff follows bank policies and procedures; assist branch personnel with questions and issues; approve checks for cashing up to established limits; coordinate scheduling of vacations and sick days; create monthly schedule to ensure adequate staffing and coordinate with teller staffing coordinator to request relief needs.
  • Train, direct, and evaluate employee performance within the department; identify performance problems and assist Branch Manager with corrective counseling.
  • Monitor and ensure proper completion of the Branch Review Forms; communicate form updates to branch staff when necessary.
  • Assist with quarterly surprise cash audits (tellers, RBG, & ATM); perform teller duties; manage the vault and daily cash target requirements when needed.
  • Monitor branch activities for compliance with established policy and regulations; take action to resolve any non‑compliant issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements
  • Comply with the letter and with the spirit of the bank's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of customer and other sensitive information.
  • Be punctual and have regular attendance.
  • Ensure that the branch provides friendly, professional, personal service to all customers.
  • Complete required training and undertake additional training as needed to increase job knowledge and maximize productivity.
  • Help develop the skills and knowledge of department/branch staff; conduct performance reviews and foster development.
  • Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of regulations and bank procedures. Comply with the provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act and other laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that tellers meet teller balancing and accuracy standards and adhere to check‑cashing guidelines.
  • Keep management informed regarding key operating issues affecting the department.
  • Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance at all times.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with department/branch staff.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience:

    Three to five years of similar or related experience.
  • Education:

    Same as Education Level above.
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Extensive personal contact; motivating, influencing, and training others; fostering relationships; influencing/selling ideas/services to others.
  • Other

    Skills:

    Good communication skills; 10-key calculator and computer keyboard skills; accuracy with numbers and names.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Frequent movement inside office; operate computer and office machinery such as calculator, photocopier, printer.
  • Work Environment:
    Professional office environment; may require travel to branches; routine use of calculators, computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets, fax machines.
